our beliefs

epic church of Hanford is a Christian Church.  We follow Jesus.  We teach from the Bible.  We worship God, the creator and ruler of the universe.

Through our relationship with Jesus, we are healed, restored, forgiven, redeemed, transformed, and loved.  We are here to share this great news with the world.

what we believe about God

We believe that the God of the Bible is the one and only God who rules the known and unknown universe.  We affirm that there is one God and that He is known in three distinct but unified, co-equal persons:  The Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

what we believe about humans

We believe that people are created in the image of God with tremendous potential for good.  In fact, we believe that we are designed to be like him in our character.  We believe that this image of God also affords us the potential to have personal friendship with God.  However, we are all marred with a deeply seeded attitude of rebellion against God that creates real problems in our lives and makes it impossible to gain that friendship with God by our own efforts.  The Bible calls this sin.

what we believe about salvation

We believe that the means to friendship with God is made available to us through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ - God who put on flesh and became human in order to do away with the division between us and Him.  Only by trusting in Christ's forgiving work and turning away from our self-ruled life in order to follow Jesus can we be saved from the desperate separation from God which sin creates for us.  Eternal living begins when we make this turn.

what we belive about baptism

We believe that every Christian should follow the instruction and example of Christ in baptism as a part of their walk of faith.  We believe that faith in Christ alone is the means to forgiveness and restoration of relationship with God, and that baptism is a rite which solemnizes the spiritual change we have experienced through faith.

what we believe about the Bible

We believe that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the Bible, and guided by Him as they did.  Thus, it is the word of God and the source-book for our beliefs and faith practice.  We believe the Bible is true, trustworthy, and without error.

what we believe about eternity

We belive that humans were designed for eternity, and that God loves us and desires us to spend eternity in union with Him.  That is why he paid such a high price to secure forgiveness for us.  To be with God for eternity will be Heaven.  To be separated from him will be Hell.

what we believe about christian living

We have been redeemed not for our own sole benefit, but for God's glory.  We therefore should continually grow in our conformity to the life and teaching of Jesus with the help of the Holy Spirit and the scripture.  We should also continually share the grace of Christ at work in our lives, communicating God's love and salvation to those with whom we come into contact, our families, friends, co-workers, and neighbors.

what we believe about the church

The church is collectively, the representation of Christ to the world.  It is the body of Christ and is made up of those who have, by faith, trusted in the salvation of Christ and who follow him.  Every follower of Christ is intended for the worship, fellowship, mentoring, and ministry of the church.
