Wow Jam Makeover for 2009

By Bruce Kane |  January 23, 2009

After the evaluation of last year's Wow Jam in Hanford's Coe Park, the pastors of Hanford agreed to plan the event again for 2009.  After meeting in January of 2009, the same pastors agreed to give the event a makeover to create a more attainable budget and to compensate for the impossible task of following up on the size of event we had  in 2008.

Here is what is currently being worked out for this year's incredible community outreach event.

We are going to offer all the kindnesses at compassion boothes that were offered last year.  We are going to feed all those in attendance with a similar meal.  We are going to do contests and give-a-ways like last year's event.  And here is where we beef up the inpact.  We are going to pair up sponsor churches with churches in the neighborhood of the event, to put on follow-up events in the neighborhood at the local churches.  Events like community meals, food distributions, carnivals, VBS, or perhaps others.

We will save money by providing local talent for music and evangelism.  And we will point more of the money we budget to the follow up events.  Look for more information as things develop.

Last year's event unified 14 churches to reach out to one of the most needy areas of our town.  And in doing so, Christ's church in Hanford presented an incredible witness to the power of His Spirit among His followers and the truth of his love.  We can't not repeat the effort.
