National Abused Child Month

By Bruce Kane |  April 24, 2006

April is National Abused Child month.  Abused children are close to God's heart.  I can hear in the words of Christ, God's heart for children and his concern for their well-being.  When the disciples thought that children were too insignificant for Jesus, Jesus sternly corrected them.  Later when referring to the faithful followers he loved, he used the image of a child to express his staunch protection. (Luke 18:16, Luke 17:2)

At EPIC we are big supporters of Royal Family Kid's Camps.  Our missionaries, Glenn and Robin Garvin are leaders in this ministry to reach out and love abused and neglected children.  Many in the EPIC family participate in Hanford 's Royal Family Kid's Camp, in conjunction with Glad Tidings Church .  (This is Hanford RFKC's 10th year)

RFKC provides 1 week of summer camp to abused and neglected children without cost to them or their foster families.  But more than a terrific camp experience, RFKC surrounds these kids with Christians who love them generously and authentically.  This is something that many have never experienced.  RFKC also offers these kids some hope for their lives through God's love for them and His words from the Bible which speak possibility into their circumstances.
