Wow!  What an incredible response to the opportunity to help in Haiti.  It has been EPIC!

 

Epic church is joining forces with Convoy of Hope to respond to the crisis in Haiti.  After a 7.0 earthquake in Haiti (and now a recent 6.1 aftershock) the people of Haiti are suffering deeply.  In a country that in good times is plagued by sever poverty is struggling to recover from the natural disaster.  Convoy of Hope works with churches around the world to facilitate on-going compassion ministries and to establish channels for disaster relief, should the need arise.  It's because of this pre-existing relationship with churches in Haiti that Convoy of Hope is able to be a first responder.

 

Our role with Convoy of Hope is 3-fold.  First we received donations for Convoy of Hope to facilitate their support of victims.  Together we amassed more than $300.00  Second, we passed out some empty 1-gallon ziploc bags with a personal hygiene shopping list, provided by Convoy of Hope.  These filled bags will be distributed first to the orphans in the schools of Latin America Child Care, then to other children in the schools, and finally to community members.  (Latin America Child Care lost their school facility in Port-au-Prince.) 

 

Together we sent 148 packs.

 

Each of these packs contains a full size shampoo, a bar of antibacterial soap, a full size toothpaste, a tooth brush, a comb, and $3 for international shipping.  In total, we sent 11 cartons of these packs to Convoy of Hope.  Many people generously gave additional funds to help epic ship these cartons to the Convoy of Hope distribution center in Missouri.

 

The epic financial impact on Haiti = $1050.00 in cash support, over and above the value of the hygiene kits.  Pictured here is the money donated for shipping both from epic to the distribution center in Missouri, and from there to Port-au-Prince.  It's incredible that this money was given by those who had already made the sacrifice of filling hygiene kits.

 

Remember, this is only the beginning of our impact.  Our real impact is the impact we make in prayer.  Pray for God to prevent disease from spreading, to guide relief workers to any survivors who may still be trapped, to comfort and heal the injured and sick, to provide for the orphans, and whatever else the Holy Spirit inspires you to pray for.
