On Tuesday,August 30, 2005 MarilynThornton arranged for the needy students of the Hanford Elementary School District to receive their donated backpacks at a district-sponsored party.  The kids had hot dogs and balloons.  They received gifts from local agencies and then selected their own backpack - loaded with some basic supplies. 

 

After Epic donated 171 backpacks to the program, specifically for 7th and 8th graders, Ms. Thornton invited St. Brigid's parish to aid in the effort.  They provided an additional 500 backpacks and every needy student in the district was provided with a one.  Epic was honored with the privilege of distributing the backpacks personally, along with members of St. Brigid's young adult group.  It was a great event to participate in.
