40 Days of Faith Begins

By Bruce Kane |  January 2, 2006

On January 1, 2006 the entire epic team is invited to join a spiritual examination of the nature and power of faith.  Our journey will begin with a call to fasting.

Each member of the launch team should consider what kind of fast they would like to undertake during our 40 day season.  A fasting guide is available on the epic website.  Some may select a total fast, which is abstinence from all solid foods.  This may be practiced for upto our entire 40 days, or for a single day each week, or for a single meal each day.  Some may choose to abstain from luzury foods, like dessert or coffee.  Some may shoose to abstain from particular activities throughout the 40 day period.  The purpose of this fasting is to heighten our focus on God and his plan and to empower our intercession for the lost in Hanford and epic's ministry to reach those who are uncomfortable and/or uninterested in what is offered in more traditional churches.

Another aspect of our spiritual emphasis will be a common daily devotional thought.  These will be posted on this website.  By sharing the same god-centered thought each day, our journey will help us to discern God's plan for our ministry, together as a spiritual community.

In the environment of the preceding two aspects, we will use our Sunday evenings to study the Bible's description of faith, and we will process the plan for our ministry together.

The 40 Days of Faith will conclude on Sunday evening, February 12th with a feast and celebration.
