1/4 of Ugandan Well Paid For

Valentine Rose Sales a Huge Success

By Bruce Kane |  February 17, 2009

Our goal was to pay for as much of the well in Uganda as possible.  And what an amazing success we had.  Our net profit was $1000.00.  That will be exactly 10% of the cost of installing a well in a community that does not have local access to clean water.  We are thrilled!

UPDATE - An epic supporter has offered to pay for all of the supplies for this fund raiser.  That brings our our profits up to 25% of the total cost of the Ugandan well.  Now we are more than thrilled.  We are blown away!

This was the first of our project fund raisers.  Each team member will be raising personal support to fund their own trip to Uganda.  This support will cover their airfare, lodging, food, local travel, and sundry needs during the 2 week work trip.  On the trip the team will assist in the installation of a clean water source for a community in Uganda, the provision of an AIDS clinic, improvements to an orphanage, and we will host an outreach event, presenting the story of Jesus.

The Valentine Rose project was a lot of fun, a lot of work, and very successful.  Carol, purchaser of roses said, "I think this was the best fund-raiser I have ever been a part of.  I got to bless so many people I love with the flowers and bless an entire community in Uganda with the procedes."  Another rose buyer, Jenn said, "they were beatiful, better than some florist roses I have seen."  Gary said, "I didn't know you were going to arrange the roses in a vase.  We really got a great deal on these."

In addition to those who bought roses through pre-orders taken at epic worship gatherings, some were sold along the rode side.  And delivery was made available to everyone who purcased.  One buyer paid double for their roses, just to help the cause and another buyer ordered 21 dozen roses for their friends.  Many people GAVE BIG through this fund-raiser.

Here is a picture of the unarranged roses.  We made 72 long-stem arrangements, and 24 rose bowl arrangements.  This is about 1/2 of the total roses.

Here is some of the team at work.  While this crew was at work arranging flowers, others were cleaning roses and making deliveries.  On Saturday, Jordan and Rico went out to the corner of 11th Avenue and Grangeville to sell to passers by.

Here is what the finished product looked like.  This is a dozen long stemmed roses arranged in a vase.  We presold this for $35.00.  We sold it on Valentines day for $45.00.  We saw comparable arrangements sell for $85.00 on Valentines Day.
The card you see on this arrangement was included on each arrangement.  It read, "Happy Valentines Day - Your gift of roses helped provide a well to a community in Uganda."

Thanks to all of you for supported the Uganda mission by purchasing roses.
